- ~8:50 PM ET: WHCA president Weijia Jiang returns to the stage, announces the program will resume. Trump posts on Truth Social praising Secret Service and saying he wants the “show to go on.”
- ~9:36 PM ET: Trump posts again: law enforcement has requested everyone leave the premises. He announces a press conference from the White House briefing room and confirms the event will be rescheduled within 30 days.
The Suspect: Who Was Behind the Trigger?
Reports confirmed that a male suspect was tackled by law enforcement near the security entrance and taken into custody.
- Identification: While his name hasn’t been officially released to the public yet, the FBI has confirmed they have him in custody.
- The Motive: Investigators are currently digging into his background to see if this was a “lone wolf” radicalized by domestic politics or something even more coordinated. What we do know is that he fired what Wolf Blitzer described as a “very serious weapon” multiple times before being taken down.
What Trump Said on Truth Social

In classic Trump fashion, he initially wanted to “Let the show go on,” but law enforcement eventually cleared the building, leading to the cancellation and future rescheduling of the event.
The “Prophetic” White House Comment
Adding a bizarre twist to the evening, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had told Fox News just hours earlier that there would be “some shots fired tonight”. While she clearly meant verbal jabs in the President’s speech, the internet is now in a frenzy over the “strangely prophetic” choice of words.
Is Anywhere in America Safe Anymore?
